Set atop a rooftop overlooking 5th Avenue and the Caribbean Sea, Thompson’s restaurants (Catch and Cinco) and pool bar provide one of the most breathtakingly luxurious views in all of Playa del Carmen. Of course, the upscale ambiance and prime piece of real estate come with a price, and that will be no different for the hotel’s New Year’s celebration. While no concrete plans have been made public for their #PartyAbove preparations, they do say this on their website: “We’re putting the finishing details on Playa’s party of the year, and you’re invited. Revel in fire dancers, mermaids, with notable music entertainers to keep you moving into the wee hours on our rooftop.”

Zenzi

From up above to down at the shore, Zenzi is another great option to wind down the year in a more casual perhaps even more raucous atmosphere. Situated right on the beach, Zenzi beach bar and restaurant will be offering up a wonderful evening of live music and delicious food. It’s definitely one of the best choices if you’re looking to combine a more casual atmosphere with quality dining at the beach. Zenzi promises a Brazilian-theme New Year’s Eve party to help you samba into 2018.

Plank

Plank Gourmet Grill & Patio is an exquisite, award-winning smokehouse-style restaurant located just one block west of Playa del Carmen’s bustling 5th Avenue. The name Plank derives from the restaurant’s signature concept of cooking over wooden planks in stone-fired ovens. Led by Executive Chef Juan Diego Solombrino, a long-time creative force of the Playa del Carmen restaurant scene, Plank has even garnered a 5 Star Diamond Award from the by the American Academy of Hospitality Science. This hip restaurant and bar with an ultra chic ambiance is located right in the heart of Playa del Carmen’s 5th Avenue. Great food and an even better setting will provide the backdrop to saying goodbye to 2017. La No. 20 Cantina

There’s a lot of ways to ring in the New Year. We’ve just listed four above. Last but not least, however, is a chic and modern cantina located smack dab in the middle of downtown Playa del Carmen. La No. 20 Cantina (Number 20), this upscale Mexican-style tavern is a great spot to welcome 2018 in the company of groups of talented mariachis and the collective pride and joy of Mexican culture. Located on 5th Avenue directly in front of the Thompson Hotel, La No. 20 Cantina promises a very Mexican celebration of that which has passed and that which is yet to come.
