The Xcaret Night Show: A Celebration of Spectacular Mexico

The Xcaret Night show is an amazing presentation of some of Mexico’s finest folklore from all over the nation.

Held each evening at Xcaret Park, it’s an excellent opportunity to get a taste of just some of the richness and diversity of Mexican culture.

As Mexico celebrates 196 years since the country gained independence from the Spanish Crown, we thought it fitting to write about an incredible tribute to this nation’s vibrant history.

Here’s what you can expect from this fascinating evening of fine regional folklore.

Xcaret at Night: Spectacular Mexico

Although I have lived in the region for several years now, I admit it took me a while before I actually ever visited Xcaret Park.

In large part, it has to do with my style of travel. I don’t think twice about ditching a theme park like Xcaret, Xel-Ha or Selvatica for a more authentic experience.

I had been to Xcaret on previous occasions, but only to participate in Xcaret Park’s Festival of Life and Death. Held each year from the 30th of October through November 2nd, the festival is a recreation of Mexico’s most popular celebration: Day of the Dead.

But with a visit in town and a duty to accommodate, I finally made my first visit to Xcaret Park.

I’ll review this massive theme park in another article. For now, I am going to provide you with my review of Xcaret’s evening program: Spectacular Mexico.

Spectacular Mexico Xcaret Review

Like a longing stare made in Sonora
Dressed with the sea of Cozumel
With the color of the sun throughout the whole body
This is how you carry Mexico in your skin*
(José Manuel Fernández Espinosa)

*Note: In Mexico, llevar algo en la piel means that you have it in your blood; something that is a part of you and your identity.

Have you ever had the experience of going into something with low expectations? You know, when you set the bar low and then are pleasantly surprised?

Well, that so happened to me at the Spectacular Mexico evening show at Xcaret Park.

As I tend to stay away from theme parks, so too do I avoid fantastical representations of history devoid of meaning and context.

I know. I’m an oddball.

That’s why I was so surprised at my reaction when I realized that I really enjoyed the Mexico Spectacular show.

Beginning at 7:00 p.m. each night, Mexico Spectacular takes you on a folkloric journey through Mexicos’ different regions.

Each act highlights the song, dance, and traditions from the country’s diverse and extremely rich culture.

As with everything at Xcaret Park, the show is highly professional, entertaining, and well choreographed.

In fact, over 400 artists come together to present this performance to thunderous applause each and every night.

Ending with the song known as Mexico en la piel, which basically translates as having Mexico in your blood, the Xcaret at Night Spectacular Mexico evening program is a superb tribute to the roots of Mexican identity.

Xcaret at Night: Prices & Details of the Spectacular Mexico Show

As mentioned above, the Spectacular Mexico show begins at 7:00 p.m. and is over at 9:30 p.m.

However, because Xcaret Park is an attraction in and of itself, I recommend you spend the day there and culminate it with a special dose of folklore that will have you feeling like Mexico runs through your blood.

It does make for a long day. However, Xcaret has more activities than you will ever be able to see and do in one day plus a host of opportunities to simply kick back and relax under the shade.

In other words, take it easy, enjoy, and be prepared to spend a day of your vacation at Xcaret Park.

Xcaret Park Entrance Fees

If it does seem to be too long of a day, there is the option of just purchasing the Xcaret at Night package for $71 USD. With it, you can visit the park from 4:00 p.m. until the end of the show. However, most attractions are closed by then so you won’t be able to experience nearly as much. Furthermore, for an addition $18 USD you can purchase the “Xcaret Xclusivo” add-on, which includes preferential seating, snacks, and sparkling wine. Round-trip transportation is included from Playa del Carmen.

But if you do decide to spend the day at the park, which I highly recommend, especially if you are traveling with the kids, then you should purchase the Xcaret Plus package for $143 USD including round-trip transportation from Playa del Carmen. Moreover, you’ll be able to enjoy the park for the entire day and take in an all-you-can-eat feast at one of Xcaret Park’s buffet-style restaurants.

Please note, however, that Xcaret Park has an array of diverse activities and photo packages for additional fees.
